The Pay-As-You-Throw program has been implemented as mandated by the State, to further encourage recycling by charging for refuse disposal. Recycling is free with the exception of some items, such as electronics. See below for Town and District Policies. Property Managers shall register with WSWMD - see application below. Contact the Town Office for further information.

Property Managers and Haulers Application
Transfer Station Passes: "Passes" are available free of charge to residents / property owners (and their haulers) only at the Town Office.
Punch Tickets: Punch tickets can be purchased at the Stratton Town Office or via mail for $35.00 per ticket or at the Transfer Station for $40.00. One punch ticket provides $40.00 worth of user fees (lost or misplaced tickets will not be replaced or refunded).
Use Fees (the following fees have been established for holders of a "Pass"):
1) Users without passes will be charged double these fees.
2) Payment by Punch Ticket is preferred; however, cash or check will also be accepted at the Transfer Station.
Haulers: Haulers / Property Managers who dispose of clients' refuse must show a valid WSWMD sticker (see WSWMD Civil Ordinance – Variable Rate Pricing For Residential Solid Waste Collection).
Household Trash:
Per Bag or container up to 16 gallons - $1.00
Per Bag or container up to 32 gallons - $2.00
Larger bags (i.e. 55-gallon bags) - $4.00
Recyclable Materials - NO CHARGE
Bulky Items:
General Fee $30.00 per cubic yard
Non-electronic Appliances (large) - $10.00
Non-electronic Appliances (small) - $6.00
Mattresses (or similar items, i.e. hot tub covers) - $10.00
Tires (<16.5") - $2.00 each or $4.00 with rims
Tires (>16.5") - $4.00 each or $8.00 with rims
Push Lawn mowers or similar equip. - $6.00 each
Electronics (Currently, Stratton does not accept electronics – these items should be taken to WSWMD, or an associated facility that is certified to accept such items).
